Monday: The ANI on Monday reported cases of assault and racism by the Ukraine Military amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju, and Gen (Retd) VK Singh will be sent to travel to neighboring countries of Ukraine to coordinate the evacuation mission and help students.

A number of Indians, majorly students, are stranded in Ukraine. Indian students in Ukraine who were trying to flee the war-torn country have reported disturbing videos and pictures faced by them on the borders. Many claimed that they weren’t allowed to cross into Poland and some said they were beaten.

“When your authorities did not cooperate with us, why should we help with you?” said the Ukrainian troops at the borders. The African and Indian migrants & students in Ukraine are being blocked from fleeing to safety. In one of the videos, a student was kicked by the guard at the back. It was not clear whether the student is Indian or not but the students at international borders did report harassment.

Not only Indian students but Nigerians have also claimed that racial discrimination is being practiced at the borders. They are being told, “They have to let ‘Ukrainians’ through first”. They claimed that if anyone tried to cross the borders, they were charged with rods and punched on faces. The Indian embassy is constantly providing them with food and shelter.

PM Modi will be chairing another meeting on Ukraine with under talks of sending some union ministers to the neighboring countries of Ukraine. Operation Ganga is ongoing with the rescue but however, the speed of the evacuation needs to be intensified.

The Ukraine- Russian war continues on the fifth day as well. Ukraine claimed that about 3,500 troops have been killed whereas 200 soldiers were taken as prisoners of war. Both the countries agreed to talk on the border of Belarus “without preconditions”.
