The court directed the victim in the Unnao rape case to inform the security officers guarding her before going anywhere till the case is over. The victim has been provided security by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Not only this, he only goes out when necessary. Justice Dharmesh Sharma in District and Sessions court issued these orders in response to an application filed by the rape victim alleging harassment by personal protection officers. He told the court that the security personnel were stopping him from going anywhere, which was a violation of his liberty.
Considering the application, the court said that they have been deployed for your security. You should plan in such a way that you do not need to step out every day and go out only when needed. You should be careful until the matter is over. In such a situation, the petitioner should inform the security officer before leaving the house.
The court said that the victim and her security officers have agreed to resolve the problem mutually. The court said the prosecution should ensure that whenever the victim or family members wish to move out of Delhi in connection with any pending case, they will inform the Assistant Commandant of CRPF so that proper security arrangements and escorts can be made. The court said if the victim or family members want to meet their lawyer for pending cases, they will try to inform about the program a day in advance.
It is alleged that the girl was abducted and raped by Kuldeep Singh Sengar (MLA) in 2017 when she was a minor. On December 20, 2019, the court had sentenced Kuldeep Singh to life imprisonment for rape. Besides this, the court had directed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to provide security to the victim, her mother, and other family members.
