Liberty is enshrined in the preamble of the Constitution, which states that India is Liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith, and worship. It is the ability to do as one pleases and is the state of being free within society from control.
It is often expressed with the word “freedom” which is also enshrined in the preamble of the constitution. Liberty is allowing yourself to be free from any control and to exercise your rights and freedom is to live and exercise with your rights and duties freely. Both are interrelated to each other. The main difference is freedom is broader than liberty in a sense.
As per the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, Individual Liberty is a significant part of our Constitutional command as unless and until an individual will not exercise its freedom and state of being free within the society, Indian will not be a Liberal and Democratic country.
In this modern world, individual liberty is most important to live with free will and freedom in this society. People need to understand their rights and duties towards their own country which is also the fundamental and moral duty of the citizens of the country. As a citizen of this democratic country, individual liberty is an integral part of the constitution.
