Recently a lawyer from Thane, named Aditya Mishra, had approached the National Human Rights Commission to seek intervention and evacuate all the Indians who were stranded out of Afghanistan.

He sought the NHRC to urgently intervene after the majority of the regions of Afghanistan were recently taken over by the Taliban.

His petition states that “Indians in Afghanistan are struggling hard for their life with the recent takeover of the government of Afghanistan by the Taliban”.

He also included that he was aware of the efforts that the Indian government was taking for repatriation of Indians who had been stranded in Afghanistan, he also added that the NHRC is the “apex custodian of human rights” and therefore, they ought to intervene to install confidence among all the citizens of the country, in the interest of the highest amount of justice.

The NHRC is scheduled to hear this petition shortly.
