Recently, a 27-year-old man had allegedly set himself on fire right outside the Apex court of India and later, succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

Background

On 16th August, a man and woman attempted to commit suicide by setting themselves on fire. The 24-year-old woman contracted about 85% burns and the man had suffered 65% burn injuries. The court officials immediately took them to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Currently, the woman is still undergoing treatment.

The woman belonging to Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly raped in 2019 by a BJP MP. The accused had also been jailed for two years; however, the matter is still under trial.

In a live video that took place before this incident, the man and the woman had alleged that some of the police officers as well as other noted people had been supporting the accused.

In August, a local court of Varanasi had issued a non-bailable warrant against the woman accusing her of forgery, based on a complaint that was filed by the brother of the accused MP.
