“Photograph of Dr. BR Ambedkar should be put in all judicial programs” Karnataka High Court

The recall decision has been taken in the meeting of the Administrative Court under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of the High Court Ritu Raj Awasthi.

The High Court of Karnataka today ordered the installation of Dr. BR Ambedkar’s portrait in the Principal Bench of Bangalore and Benches of Dharwad and Kalaburagi in all official functions of all District and Taluk Courts of the State on Republic Day, Independence Day and Constitution Day.

As we saw protests broke out in the state on January 27 as the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Raichur removed Dr. Ambedkar’s picture from the stage before unfurling the national flag during Republic Day celebrations this year.

Lawyers, organizations and members of political parties participated in the protest after a Dalit organization called for this. Thereafter, the issue was brought up to the Karnataka High Court.

Bhimrao Ambedkar – he is of great repute. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist and social reformer who fought economic and social discrimination against the untouchables in Hindu society of India, and who later renounced Hinduism and inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement.

This circular has been passed by TG Shivashankar Gowda, Registrar General of the High Court, directing the Additional Registrar Generals in Dharwad and Kalaburagi Benches and all of the District Judiciary to ensure that all courts under their jurisdiction direct that this resolution shall be complied with.
